A certified or sworn translation (in Dutch: beëdigde vertaling) is a translation in which the translator confirms, with a signed declaration and seal, that the text is complete and accurate. The IND, Dutch municipalities, courts, DUO and notaries regularly require one, as do foreign governments, universities and employers.
We provide certified translations to and from Dutch, English and more than fifty other languages. If the document will also be used abroad, we arrange the apostille or legalisation as part of the same order.

When do you need a certified translation?
Whenever an authority has to officially assess a document written in another language: a foreign birth certificate to register with your municipality, a diploma for a credential evaluation or a new job, a marriage certificate for a residence application with the IND, or a judgment in an international case.

Scan, copy or original?
A clear scan or photo is enough for a quote and, in most cases, for the translation itself. The translation is then attached to a copy of your document. Some authorities require the translation to be bound to the original; we discuss this with you beforehand so there are no surprises.

What is the difference between a certified and a regular translation?
A certified translation includes a signed and sealed declaration from the translator that the translation is complete and accurate. A regular translation has no official status and is usually not accepted by authorities.
Who produces the translation?
Translations for use in the Netherlands are made by translators registered in the Dutch Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). For use abroad, we work with translators who are authorised in the destination country.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard documents such as certificates and diplomas are usually ready within a few working days. Express service is often possible. The expected delivery time is stated in our quote.
How much does a certified translation cost?
The price depends on the language pair, the length and type of document, and whether an apostille or legalisation is needed. Send us the document and you will receive a fixed price before we start.
